Significant growth occurred in the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East/Africa, where year-on-year capacity increases exceeded 100%—led by major new installations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Europe and the Americas experienced slower yet steady expansion. Global offshore wind capacity has surpassed 80 GW, enough to power millions of homes.

Innovations in turbine design, the scale-up of offshore projects, and repowering of older sites continue to drive capacity growth. Experts forecast global wind installations to exceed 1,200 GW by the end of 2024, supplying roughly 11% of global electricity demand.
