SolarEdge Launches Nexis: All-in-One Modular Solar Inverter and Battery System

SolarEdge 推出 Nexis:一體式模組化太陽能逆變器與電池系統

Innovation in Residential Solar Storage

SolarEdge has introduced Nexis, a modular, all-in-one solar and energy storage system designed for residential projects. The integrated solution features a DC-optimized inverter combined with stackable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery modules, offering flexibility and simplicity for homeowners and third-party ownership (TPO) solar providers. This launch aims to address rapidly evolving market demands with enhanced scalability and operational efficiency.

Modular Battery System with Clickable Expansion

The Nexis system includes modular batteries, each providing 4.9 kWh energy capacity and 3.5 kW power output. Up to four battery modules can be stacked, expanding storage capacity up to 19.6 kWh per stack and 13 kW power. Its "simple-click" architecture enables customers to effortlessly add battery modules without the need for additional electrical wiring, streamlining installation and upgrades.

Each battery block contains its own power module, facilitating extended backup hours and improved system performance. The LFP chemistry equipped with cell-level thermal protection enhances safety, meeting UL and IEC certifications. SolarEdge backs these batteries with a 10-year warranty, ensuring reliability and long-term usage.

Advanced Inverter Technology

The Nexis inverter is designed for DC-coupled systems, optimizing solar power generation with a weighted efficiency of 99%. It ranges from 3.84 kW to 13 kW capacity and supports both 240 V and 208 V installations. This flexibility allows homeowners to install larger solar systems without triggering costly main panel upgrades — reducing installation complexity and additional expenses.

Users benefit from module-level monitoring that provides revenue-grade data on power production and consumption, enabling smarter energy management decisions. Integrated folding antennas and the innovative no-wire "simple-click" connection ensure seamless communication between the inverter and battery stack.

System Scalability and Market Impact

Combining up to four battery modules per inverter and permitting up to three inverters per site, the Nexis system supports a total energy capacity of up to 235.2 kWh. This scalability suits various residential needs—from partial to whole-home backup power, time-of-use load shifting, to energy arbitrage and increased self-consumption.

SolarEdge North America General Manager Marty Rogers emphasized that Nexis directly responds to TPO providers’ demand for simplified, flexible solutions at scale. The DC-optimized design accelerates charging speeds and improves overall system economics, benefiting both providers and customers.

Complementary Product Launch: Nexis IslandDER

Alongside Nexis, SolarEdge also introduced the Nexis IslandDER meter socket adapter developed in partnership with ConnectDER. This adapter simplifies solar-plus-battery installations while avoiding costly main panel upgrades, which typically range from $1,500 to $4,000. With simplified electrical integration, the IslandDER enables smoother and more affordable residential solar expansion.

Driving Residential Solar Forward

The Nexis solution represents a major advancement in residential solar and storage technology, offering modularity, safety, and seamless expansion. SolarEdge plans to begin rolling out the system in 2026, helping homeowners and solar providers benefit from streamlined installation, enhanced energy independence, and improved economics in a rapidly evolving solar landscape.
